Make Your Men’s Suits Look Better With Proper Winter Skin Care

The air is growing cooler, the nights are getting longer, and your skin is becoming dryer by the second. Yes, winter is just around the corner. If you want to look great in your men’s suits, you need to understand proper winter skin care.

Winter Skin Care Dos and Don’ts

Skincare can be complicated, especially with so many different products available on the market. However, even the best men’s suits won’t have you looking dapper if your skin is dry and cracked. Here are a few dos and don’t for skin care you should keep in mind as cool weather approaches.

Do:

  • Keep wearing your sunscreen. Even with the sun hidden behind cloudy skies and setting earlier every day, you should still use sunscreen to protect your skin. As it snows, Make sure it has at least a 15 SPF if you want to keep your body protected against UVB and UVA light. Even though the sun’s rays are weaker during this time of year, they can still be reflected off of fallen snow.
  • As the air grows colder, your skin will have difficulty keeping its moisture. You can counteract this effect by using oil-based moisturizers. While you may cringe at the thought of these oily products, moisturizers without oil often leave a clear film on your skin, which makes it hard for your skin to breathe.
  • Use hand cream often. Rubbing your hands regularly with hand cream will keep your hands from becoming too dry and cracked, especially around the knuckles. Remember that dry, cracked skin is more than just an unsightly accessory to your men’s suits. It is an open invitation for infection.
  • Begin using your humidifier to restore some of the moisture to the dry winter air in your home. Don’t have a humidifier? No worries. Even a bowl of water can have the same effect when placed next to your bed at night. This will help relieve that itchy skin without having to jump into a tub of lotion.

Don’t:

  • Exfoliation may be part of your regular skin care regimen, but during winter you should limit it to about two times each week. Use cleaners to keep your face clean for the rest of the week.
  • Licking your lips may be a hard habit to break, but this is an easy way to speed up the process of chapped lips. It may take a stab at your manhood, but invest in a lip balm. You don’t have to buy colourful lip balm with a fruity flavour, though. There are many plain balms available just for men.
  • What is better than getting into a hot shower or tub after a long cold day shovelling snow? Almost anything. Hot water causes steam, which opens up your pores and releases the moisture in your skin. This results in dry, itchy skin. If you want to take a hot shower, limit it to less than fifteen minutes, and reduce the temperature if at all possible.

With the right winter skin care, you are sure to look your best in men’s suits this season. Just be sure to follow this simple list of skin care dos and don’ts.
